Now i'm in New Zealand..I owned a Mini and a Toyota Levin TE71. Because my Mini is not allowed on the road (can't stop cos too fast) so I brought myself a TE71 for my 2nd car and a car that I can do drift on. As you are the man, changing your TE72 to a turbo car, I got something to ask u or anyone who can answer my question... that is,... Is that possible to get a Toyota Hilux LSD (diff)unit to fit into my TE71?? Thanks alot, like to hear from you soon. Bye. |

Name: Scott J. Davis Website: Referred by: Just Surfed On In From: USA, California, Bay area Time: 2000-03-02 19:43:45 Comments: Terrific site!! You don't know how hard it is to find such a site here in the states let alone any high performance mods. An 18rg or a 3t- gteu are pretty much myths out here. Nothing but 20rs in the celicas. My 1976 celica gt feels neglected since there is limited parts options, even for the 20r motor. It is great to see what is going on in other parts of the world. Celica and Corolla lovers are a rare breed. Everyone is into later model cars such as Acura Integras, Honda civics and preludes, Eclipses, etc. The people that are into old school cars are usually involved with classic American muscles cars like the camaro and chevelles. I lived in the bay area my whole life and only seen and handfull of super nice celicas and corollas(less than 10). My goal is to build a super fat celica that can out handle and out accelerate these punk V8s. I think it is my job to let everyone know that Toyotas are a force to be reckoned with. And again, great job on this site. The best older Toyota site I ever visited. I have been here multiple times, mostly just remind myself that there is people out there who share the same passions. Thanks for everything. |

I hava a 1979 Corolla and I am fixing it up. I need some suggestions on performance My car runs the stock 2TC engine but w/ a Holley II carb. I've got Pacesetter headers and custom piping and my exhuast is an 8" glass pack muffler with a resonated tip. The car sits at stock height but it's got KYB's. It's also stripped inside. The bad part would have to be that my car is and automatic. I am trying to convert it to manual. So if anyone would like to give me some ideas it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, John Valera |

Anyway i'll try to get the pictures for you when i have the time. And let you assess it. Engine runs ok. Gearbox has been modified from 5 speed to 4 speed. Runs original at 92ps. Not modified in anyway. Needs a lot of bodywork to do. |

Now I will probably go ahead with it when I get some money together to source and buy a 3T-GTEU and all the accessories to go with (i.e.- new exhaust, new clutch setup, L.S.D hopefully, and also hopefully a new gearbox and driveshaft.) Anyway keep up the good work. |

It's really nice to see that you guys from "down under" appreciate the older model Toyotas. I come from the "old school" and own a '83 Corolla (AE72) coupe, back in the days, Toyotas ruled the streets, now its Honda/Acura.. That makes me sick! With time and money permitting, I plan to build up my "Q-ship" and will be definitely puttting in the 3T-GTE motor in my car. There is nothing like blowing the doors off of those Honda/Acura boys! Again, great website! its very imformative and detailed. I wish the guys down here would share the same enthusiasm for the older model Toyotas as you guys do. Keep up the great work! TOYOTAS FOREVER! |

Squeezed a 1G-GZE into an RA40 a couple of years ago with success, so if anyone's after some info, mail me. |

I have an RA40 18RG EFI Turbo sillycar with the same problem. The solution is to use Sigma control arms. They fitted straight onto mine using Sigma bushes and ball joints and gave me 2 deg. neg. Even the radius rod and swaybar link fitted. Any q's mail me. |

And a note to the GM guy, Isn't Toyota part of GM now or vice versa, (eg apollo/camry, commodore/lexen, etc.)? |

Name: Bill Aubrey Website: Snowmobilers Paradise Referred by: Just Surfed On In From: Ottawa Ontario Canada Time: 1998-03-14 12:47:45 Comments: TOYOTA rules. I am currently half way through a project car, er... truck. I'm trying to stuff a wimpy 3.0L Supra Turbo engine ('82 to '85) into a 1984 Pickup, Rear wheel drive, with a posi-trac. Rear diff. When I'm done, and find a place for my rad, my truck will Haul!. I'm 16 years old, I've owned 9 different cars and trucks since I was 5. My first car was a beat old VW Bug. (I couldn't drive, let alone spell) But my dad gave it to me, so hey, free car! Since then its been; Buick Skylark, VW Van, Ford LTD, etc. Which were all scrapped after being "field driven". But I still have my Nissan 4X4, Toyota pickup, and I just sold my 1985 Toyota Celica GT (Last rear wheel drive Celica, and best in my book!) Which I had just restored back to original, showroom condition, and with low "family" mileage, It was a peppy one! Sold for $5000 (CDN.) So now with my "I-6 Turbo Truck" I'll be ready to hit the streets once I actually get my drivers licence!!! |
